| Make a Dollar | November 1, 2008 | Make a Dollar is similar to the 100 game, but it has placeholders forcing students to trade up. Again working with a partner with a pair of dice with the goal of reaching a dollar. | Money | | Make a 100 | November 1, 2008 | Make a Hundred is designed to be used with a die. You may want to use two to speed up the game a bit. It can be played individually or with a partner, but as they say two heads are better than one. The idea is they use the mat to place the base ten blocks until they have enough to trade up. When they get to 100, they can play again. | Base 10 | | Part Missing to 15 | November 1, 2008 | This is a complementary work sheet to the What's Missing activity. The activity begins with 10 or less beans in a paper cup. Both students know how many there are all together, and one student takes some out, and their partner tries to guess how many are still in the cup. As the game progresses they get better at knowing how many are missing. The worksheet is designed to complement those who are playing with 15 beans. | Number Facts | | Race to a Quarter | November 1, 2008 | The aim of this game is for students to trade up to a quarter. Individually or with a partner, students can use play money as markers. When they have enough pennies to trade up they trade them in for the higher coin. For example with 3-9-8, you'd need 2 and 1 chips on the 3 side.
